The PM released the amount on the occasion of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee\u2019s 96th birth anniversary which is observed as Good Governance Day yearly on the 25th of December. This assumes significance given the fact that the ongoing farmer protests against the contentious farm laws have turned a headache for the Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sammann Nidhi, a sum of \u20b96000 is provided to all farmer families pan India every year, in three equal instalments of \u20b92000 each. It is an initiative which is funded with 100% backing by the Government of India and was announced by Piyush Goyal in the 2019 Interim Union Budget.
