Telangana Congress MP A Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao regarding the Pothireddypadu project taken up by Andhra Pradesh government. He said AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is going ahead with his ‘illegal’ projects with the tacit support of KCR. “Would Jagan have issued a GO for expansion of Pothireddypadu project without secret backing from KCR? KCR is mum on the projects of AP as he is receiving kickbacks from Jagan. The man who should be guarding the interests of Telangana has turned into a thief,” said Revanth Reddy in his no-holds-barred attack on the TS Chief Minister.<\/p>\n
The firebrand Congress MP said KCR had prepared plans to buy power from private producers at excess rates to fill his pockets. “KCR is turning Telangana into a desert with his greed for kickbacks. He sought postponement of Apex Council meet on Krishna projects after August 20 only for the sake of Megha (MEIL) Krishna Reddy. Why are all the projects in the state being awarded to Krishna Reddy only?” he wondered.<\/p>\n
Revanth Reddy also submitted a petition to Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) chairman Paramesam urging inclusion of Narayanapet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme sanctioned through GO No 69 in the agenda of Apex Council meet.<\/p>\n
In a letter released later, the MP warned that if the project is not added to the agenda, he will launch a legal fight. He asked the TRS government why the most viable and beneficial project, which had been cleared in the united AP, was left out of the Apex Council agenda and also from the state’s affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
He demanded in his letter that the project which does not come under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and irrigates 1.07 lakh acres at a cost of just Rs 1,450 crore should be taken up forthwith. Otherwise, he will have to take up the agitation along with the people of the region.<\/p>\n
In this backdrop, all eyes are now on the Apex Council meet slated for August 25. The TS government intimated its objections to the plans by AP to enhance the capacity of Pothireddypadu project. The Centre has convened the Apex Council meeting to hammer out the differences between the two Telugu states and the move has been welcomed by the Chief Ministers of both the states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
