The local body elections are getting postponed every time. Earlier Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar had postponed the elections in wake of Corona crisis and decided to take it up once again and also released the schedule. The Jagan government said that it was not ready to conduct elections at a time when the vaccination drive was going on. The issue reached the High Court, which heard the issue two times. The court on Tuesday said that inquiry was over and judgment was reserved.<\/p>\n
The counsel appearing on behalf of the SEC said that once the election schedule is announced, no one can interfere. He said that a single bench striking down the notification issued by the Commission was against the Supreme Court judgment. Advocate General S Sriram arguing on behalf of the government said that the election commission did not take into consideration the corona vaccination drive. The vaccination and elections cannot be taken up simultaneously, said the advocate.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the employees openly opposed conduct of elections in February. However, they did not intervene in the controversy of the government and SEC in court. The employees\u2019 associations urged the court to Implead them in the case but the court dismissed it and also put a full stop for the controversy between Jagan\u2019s government and SEC.
