Of late, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is not shying away from taking jibes at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in more unconventional ways. This time, the Wayanad MP from Kerala took Modi to task saying that the country is reeling under ‘Modi-Made Disasters’.<\/p>\n
The former Congress chief lashed at Modi for bringing down the country’s GDP to 23.9 per cent, the lowest ever recorded in the last 40 years. Taking to Twitter, Rahul criticised the Centre for the growing unemployment rates, the worst in the last 45 years. He accused the Centre of trying to escape from its responsibility to provide the much-needed relief to 12 crore people who have lost their jobs.<\/p>\n
Rahul found fault with the decisions of Modi government, which according to him, have contributed to GDP falling by 23.9 per cent. The Congress MP also took objection to the Centre washing away its hands from repaying dues it owed to the States. He demanded the Centre to source loans and make payments to the States. He reasoned that States raising loans from the Reserve Bank of India would hit their credit ratings, depriving them of access to fresh loans. Rahul demanded that the Centre should obtain loans and repay the principal and interest without burdening the State during the current crisis.<\/p>\n
Referring to the growing number of COVID cases and mortality rates in the country, the Congress leader called it a \u2018miserable failure on the part of the Centre\u2019 to contain the deadly virus. He attributed that the tensions on the international borders with other countries is also a fallout of the skewed policies of the Modi government.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Congress senior leader and former Finance Minister Chidambaram lashed at the Centre invoking the “Act of God’ on account of COVID-19 to impose cuts in the repayments of GST to the States. Taking to Twitter, he hit out at Modi citing a tweet made by him when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister.
\nIn a tweet to Chidambaram, who was the then Union Finance Minister in 2013, Modi said, “Economy is in trouble, youth want jobs. Devote more time to economics, not petty politics. Chidambaram Ji, please focus on the job at hand!.” Now, I want to remind to the PM the same, he added.<\/p>\n
