TDP is chalking out strategies to prepare itself for the next elections by galvanizing the rank and file with major organizational changes. As part of these efforts, the party announced parliamentary constituency committees. Palla Srinivas, who has been made parliamentary committee chief of Visakhapatnam Unit, has his task cut out as he has to boost the morale of the party in the face of ruling party\u2019s onslaught against the TDP in the district.<\/p>\n
Taking a cue from the YSRCP government\u2019s move to set up districts on the basis of parliamentary constituencies, TDP has announced parliamentary committee chairpersons and coordinators. Apart from them, the party also appointed coordinators for 13 districts. An in-charge has also been appointed for two parliamentary constituencies. So far, the party has only district, mandal and village committees.<\/p>\n
The party considers that parliamentary constituency level committees provide more scope for political activities and strategizing. A coordination committee with the party seniors at district level has also been put in place. Gajuwaka former MLA Palla Srivinas has been made in-charge of Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency committee.<\/p>\n
Can he achieve unity?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Srinivasa Rao, who belongs to Yadava community, has a good recognition in the district. As his community too has a sizable number of voters in the city, he had given a tough fight when he contested from Vizag as MP.<\/p>\n He won from Gajuwaka as TDP candidate in 2014 elections. Being an educated young leader, he strived hard for the development of the constituency during his tenure. But he is a straight forward leader who does speak his mind unlike a typically shrewd, wily politician. This naturally earned him many enemies in the party, which contributed to his defeat in 2019.<\/p>\n Not accommodative<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n However, Srinivas is not known for accommodative nature. It is said he is not a person who will try to reach out to his rivals and opponents. He will not be obliging even for the sake of party interests. This uncompromising nature has led to his defeat in the last elections. He was relegated to third spot in the poll because of his inability to reach out to groups in the party and outside.<\/p>\n Will he change?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n What will happen if he does not change his attitude even as parliamentary committee chief? Only a leader who can unite all groups shedding his egos can prepare the party for next elections.
