The farmers of Amaravati who gave up their fertile lands for the AP capital have been protesting for 300 days against AP CM YS Jagan\u2019s three-capital move. Even though the YSRCP led state government turned a deaf ear to their plight, the farmers are focused on their demand of retaining Amaravati as the sole capital. In this scenario, a shocking twist has taken place right in the heart of Amaravati.<\/p>\n
A particular community have backed the devolution of Amaravati and are openly backing the AP CM\u2019s move to set up three capitals in the state, instead of a single one. The protest is being held at the seed access road junction in Tallaya Palem Village of Tulluru mandal, wherein the TDP sponsored Amaravati protests are also being held.<\/p>\n
The former AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu had chosen Amaravati as the capital, because it is centrally located and easily accessible from north and south, coastal districts and the Rayalaseema region. It is located between Vijayawada and Guntur comprising of 30 villages. Thousands of farmers had voluntarily given up more than 33,000 acres for the new capital. All political parties including the opposition had then supported the ruling TDP\u2019s decision to build the new capital in Amaravati.<\/p>\n
Now, AP CM YS Jagan who was then the leader of the opposition in the Assembly had backed his support for Amaravati and even built his residence cum camp office in Tadepalli. However, post the election win, the YSRCP chief changed his stand and announced the three-capital plan.<\/p>\n
