The police brutality witnessed in Amaravati against women protesters and farmers raises questions over the state government\u2019s farmer-friendly promises made during the election campaign. It is known that the farmers have been staging a protest for 319 days now, demanding that Amaravati be made the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh, however, the government has turned a deaf ear towards their pleas.<\/p>\n
Sadly, the hands that provide food for the nation were handcuffed by the police personnel, like as if they were hardened criminals and taken into custody in an illegal manner. The farmers are questioning the state government over the manner in which they were being treated.<\/p>\n
Is this the manner police treat women who were protesting for Amaravati since these many days? Women sitting on the road were dragged by their hair and shoved into police vehicles. How can this be justified? How can police behave in such an uncivilized manner? Shockingly! The farmers who were peacefully leading their protest were even lathi-charged and forced into police vehicles. Also, in a situation where the local police force was enough, the CRPF were deployed in large numbers to disperse the protesting farmers.<\/p>\n
Some women protesters at the location even questioned the government over the ill-treatment meted out to them. Don\u2019t you have a mother, sister, wife and daughters?
