PV Sindhu, the Rio Olympic Silver medalist took to Twitter on Monday to announce her retirement from the sport through a cryptic tweet. The 25-yr old shuttler said that Denmark Open was the final straw and that she took the decision to stay away from the current sense of unrest, negativity, constant fear and uncertainty.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’ve been thinking about coming clean with my feelings for a while now. I admit I have been struggling to deal with it. It just feels so wrong, you know. That’s why I’m, writing today to tell you that I’m done. It’s understandable if you’re shocked or confused but by the time you finish reading this you would have learnt about my point of view, and hopefully, will support it too,\u201d PV Sindhu, who made the nation proud at the Olympics and BWF gold championships said.<\/p>\n
However, what makes her post cryptic is her mentioning that she will train for the upcoming Asia Open, adding that unprecedented times require unprecedented measures. Has she really confirmed her retirement? Or, is it that she would be away from the game until the pandemic completely subsides?<\/p>\n
Finally, she said that everyone must fight together to defeat the pandemic and that it is high time to give up our substandard hygiene standards and our lackadaisical attitude towards the virus.<\/p>\n
