This will be the 28-yr old’s second OTT outing after Penguin. Here’s what the film has in store for Keerthy Suresh fans.

Plot

Manasa Samyuktha (Keerthy Suresh) is a middle-class girl who aims to become a great entrepreneur from her childhood days. She shifts to the USA along with her family and eventually meets Vijay (Naveen Chandra). When Vijay proposes to her, Manasa says no and leaves her home in order to pursue her entrepreneurial dream. She starts a Chai brand and is forced to confront Kailash Siva Kumar (Jagapathi Babu) who is shown as the biggest coffee seller in the US. Rest of Miss India’s plot shows how efficiently Manasa overcomes the hurdles created by Jagapathi Babu and makes her Chai brand named Miss India number one.

Analysis

Miss India is a film that is entirely dependent on the script rather than its star cast. Director Narendra Nath dealt it with utmost conviction. Dialogues are apt and played an important role in sustaining the interest factor throughout the film. Keerthy Suresh excelled in her role in the lines of Mahanati and the proceedings become a bit over melodramatic at times.

We can understand the director’s intention to highlight Keerthy’s performance in every scene. Narendra Nath has perhaps promised her to fetch another national award with his film which made him go overboard in a couple of instances. The casting of Naveen Chandra is his deliberate decision to channel all the interest towards Keerthy’s character. He became successful in showing the fierce competition in the business world. Rajendra Prasad, Naresh and Jagapathi Babu have done justice to their characters.

What’s good and what’s not?

Keerthy Suresh’s acting skills, US backdrop, dialogues and climax scenes are the major highlights of Miss India. The film focuses more on the business angle and therefore loses that emotional connect at places. Audiences cannot understand why Keerthy’s character refuses the marriage proposal as it shows that we have to sacrifice our personal life to excel in business. There is no logic in scenes which preach that reaching the target is the most important thing in life. Finally, there is no proper ending for Keerthy’s role perhaps for creating that long-lasting effect in the minds of audiences which appears to be a half-baked attempt.

Cast

Keerthy Suresh, Rajendra Prasad, Naresh, Nadhiya, Naveen Chandra, Kamal Kamaraju, Sumanth Shailendra, Pujita Ponnada etc.
Music: Thaman
Director: Narendra Nath
Producer: Mahesh Koneru
OTT Platform: Netflix
Release Date: 04-11-20
Final Verdict: A bit tasteless
Rating: 3/5

Mahanati fame Keerthy Suresh’s much-awaited OTT flick Miss India is out today on Netflix.
