Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha sworn in as Chief of Central Information Commission

Three information commissioners have been selected by the Indian Government. While, President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath to Mr Sinha (62), a former diplomat as the CIC.

Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha, a former diplomat has been appointed the Chief of Central Information Commission (CIC) on Saturday. President Kovind administered the oath of office in a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led three-member committee, which includes the leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as members in the panel selected Mr Sinha, Mr Mahurkar, Mr Samariya and Ms Punhani.

For two months the post of CIC had been vacant following Bimal Julka’s completion of office term on August 26th. The new Chief YK Sinha will be in the tenure for three years. Earlier, he had served as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.

The other Information Commissioners are Vanaja N Sarna, Neeraj Kumar Gupta, Suresh Chandra and Amita Pandove.
