Many extraordinary events are taking place in the state after the YSRCP assumed power. Usually, many political leaders cause a major embarrassment for the ruling party with their awkward political conversations as they fail to think before they speak. Now, the ruling party’s decisions without consulting their political leaders regarding the local issues faced by people have turned a headache for the Palakonda MLA Viswasarayi Kalavathi.
Full-fledged revolt
Since a few days, there has been a full-fledged agitation demanding that Palakonda which is known as the granary of North Andhra and the rice bowl of the state be made a separate district. Irrespective of parties and politics, people of the region have united and formed Palakonda District Sadhana Samithi to fight for the creation of a new district. It is known that Srikakulam is the most backward district in Andhra Pradesh, and the most neglected region in the district is undoubtedly Palakonda. It is a place where people’s primary occupation is farming and stand a true testimony to great camaraderie, peace, harmony and ignore negative politics, without any kind of discrimination. Sadly, though some political leaders emerged to the highest political position from this region, they have ignored development.
New district formation
The delimitation exercise by the YS Jagan government in order to form new districts has left the people of Palakonda furious. Now, the issue has even turned a big headache for the YSRCP leaders. The AP CM had announced the de-limitation on the basis of Parliamentary constituencies and already the process is underway with various committees constituted for the same. A cabinet-level discussion has also been held, and a strategy has been planned to form the new districts. However, the de-limitation being carried out without an understanding of the district, its geographical issues, resources and opportunities, framing a new district on the basis of a Parliamentary constituency has led to the conflict. In this scenario, political leaders of the district are worried that such abrupt decisions might affect their vote bank.
