25th James Bond film to ditch theatrical release

No filmmaker in his wildest of dreams would have thought that OTT platforms will replace theatres. But what’s happening now is exactly opposite to it. Even if we thought small films would only prefer OTT release, big films like Soorarai Pottru and Laxmmi Bomb prove otherwise. Now, even the mega-budget James Bond film No Time To Die has joined the OTT List.

No Time To Die is the 25th instalment in the Bond series and Daniel Craig is reprising his role as Agent-007 for the final time. It is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. With the release stalled a multiple time due to the pandemic, the makers are said to have taken a decision to release it on OTT. Digital giants like Apple TV and Netflix are said to be competing for it and are ready to shell out as high as Rs.4000crores for it.

Generally, James Bond films collect anywhere between six to seven thousand crores in collections globally. But post-pandemic, makers are sure that it is not going to collect as much as projected and Christopher Nolan’s TENET has proved the same. So, they are reportedly preferring the OTT way.
