Drishyam created sensational records in Kerala when it was released in 2013. This is a path-breaking film that amalgamated family elements with an edge-of-the-seat suspense quotient. ‘Complete actor’ Mohanlal and Meena played lead roles in this film which was later remade into Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Sinhalese and even Chinese. A rich brat loses his life in the hands of George Kutty’s wife and daughter for a grave mistake committed by him. Rest of the story portrays George Kutty’s efforts in order to save his family from the Police.
Drishyam was directed by Jeethu Joseph. He is reportedly ready with its sequel Drishyam 2 now. Even though, the film has great actors like Mohanlal and Meena, Drishyam was dominated by Ansiba Haasan and Esther Anil who played the roles of their daughters. Ansiba who played the role of elder daughter went on to star in a couple of other movies as a heroine. Esther Anil who played the younger one also became a young lady now who starred in the recently released Telugu film Johar. She also starred in a Malayalam film titled Oolu. The kids who riveted us to the screens in Drishyam have now become heroines. They are reprising their roles in the sequel also and a recent photo of them with Mohanlal and Meena became viral. Only time will tell whether Drishyam 2 repeats the magic of its predecessor or not.
