Movie theatres are an integral part of our memory. We have nostalgic feelings about them as they are the only venues of entertainment for most of us right from childhood. Hyderabad’s old single screens carry a piece of history and their walls echo with pride every time we sit for a movie in them. As the pandemic crushed the film industry under its iron feet, five such theatres were permanently shut down in Hyderabad.
Shanti 70mm in Narayanguda, Galaxy Theatre in Toli Chowki, Amba Theatre in Mehdipatnam, Sree Rama Theatre in Bahadurpura, and Mayuri Theatre in RTC X Roads are permanently closed owing to the losses incurred during the lockdown. They will be turned into warehouses and commercial complexes shortly.
