Bharateeyudu created ripples in the Indian film industry way back in 1996. This Kamal Haasan starrer was directed by Shankar while Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar played the female leads. Kamal and Shankar started a sequel to it named Bharateeyudu 2 under the Lyca Productions banner in 2019.
This sequel is frequently running into troubles and is said to be shelved for a while. We all know about the crane accident on the sets of Bharateeyudu 2 that resulted in the deaths of three crew members in February which made the film stall.
The differences between Shankar and producer Subaskaran regarding the escalating budgets have handicapped the film’s progress. This made some of the top technicians to leave the film owing to the date issues.
As all the issues are said to be sorted out now, the team is going to start filming Bharateeyudu-2 shortly. Shankar is reportedly inculcating scenes that boost Kamal’s image in the light of the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.
