Karthikeya adamant to release his movie in theatres

Karthikeya Gummakonda rose to prominence with his bold film ‘RX100’ a couple of years ago. His subsequent films ‘Guna 369’, ‘Hippie’ and ’90ML’ failed to ring the cash registers at box office. He even tried a negative character in Nani’s ‘Gang Leader’ which went largely unnoticed. Despite all these failures, makers are still approaching him with interesting characters, thanks to his good fortunes. His upcoming film ‘ChavuKaburuChallaga’ is produced by Bunny Vaas under the banner of ‘GA2’. Koushik Pegallapati is directing this yet to be completed film starring Lavanya Tripathi in the female lead.

‘ChavuKaburuChallaga’ should have been released by now, if not for lockdown. As there is uncertainty prevailing over the opening and occupancy rates in theatres, Bunny Vaas is reportedly opting for an OTT release. Sources say that Karthikeya is against this decision and he is even said to be have come up with a plan to make its theatre release viable for the producer. He advised Bunny Vaas to release it in both Telugu and Tamil so that the producer can generate more revenue. Karthikeya is playing the antagonist in Ajith’s upcoming film ‘Valimai.’ He is said to be pinning his hope on his new found celebrity status in Tamil Nadu to bring in collections for the producer.

As many Tollywood heroes are trying to prove their mettle in Kollywood market lately, Karthikeya is also following suit. Industry circles are appreciating his decision to release his movie in both Telugu and Tamil in theatres so that it can cover up the losses incurred due to the long wait.
