In the film industry, tables can turn in a second leaving the biggest of stars jobless in a short time. The same applies to technicians as well and the recent shifts and turns in the positions of music directors prove the same. Thaman who was considered a copycat is now ruling the industry with his all time musical hit ‘Ala Vaikunta Puram lo’. Mani Sharma who was nowhere in the limelight until ‘Ismart Shankar’ went on to bag Megastar’s ‘Acharya’ and the BGM of its first look poster proved his mettle once again.
But Devi Sri Prasad who was fondly called DSP by his fans is out of the race for some time as his music is turning out to be so-so in his recent releases. ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ which competed with ‘Ala Vaikunta Puram lo’ just received pass marks for its music and DSP is yet to score a musical hit post ‘Rangasthalam’. Koratala Siva who shared a great bond with DSP from his ‘Mirchi’ to ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ had to drop him on Megastar’s suggestion and work with veteran music director Mani Sharma for his ‘Acharya’.
Sources say that Sukumar had to go to a great extent to retain DSP as his music director in ‘Pushpa’ as Bunny wanted Thaman to continue his success streak. It shows the volatile position of Devi in the industry now and ‘Pushpa’ is going to be a do or die film for him. Let’s see whether he retains his crown with his upcoming film or not.
