Book reading is an important habit that is put aside by the tech-savvy generation of today. The internet has totally replaced this literary chore. Writers used to enjoy recognition until 90s and some of them even went on to achieve star status. Yandamuri Veerendranath is perhaps the most influential novel writer during the last four decades who amassed stardom equal to his director counterparts. Most of his novels were made into movies and Megastar starred in the majority of them. Yandamuri Veerendranath’s combination with director Kodandarami Reddy produced hits that are still memorable.
Among all the novels written by Yandamuri, Anando Brahma has a special place owing to its high humour content coupled with a layered premise. An NRI producer Muktesh Rao Meka bagged the rights for this novel from Yandamuri a couple of years ago. Somehow the project did not take off and was relegated to the backburner. The producer has restarted the project now and wants to start filming immediately. Muktesh Rao said he will tweak the premise of the story which will be based in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and Mississippi in the USA.
“It was my 35 year old dream to make ‘Anando Brahma’ in English because it has a universal story. I am happy that it is being realized now,” concluded Muktesh. Yandamuri added that filmmakers need guts and gumption to make a film like ‘Anando Brahma’ and expressed his happiness that it is being done now.
