Vaccines are being readied to fight the deadly Coronavirus, which has disrupted life on Earth. COVAXIN being developed by Bharat Biotech is giving good results. The Government Fever Hospital in Gorantla, Guntur, has been selected for the third round of clinical trials which would be conducted on 1,000 volunteers. The vaccine will be given to volunteers twice. Bharat Biotech has said that if the trials are successful, they will increase the production of the vaccine on a large scale from January.
Two rounds successfully completed
Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech has successfully completed two rounds of Corona vaccine trials on volunteers at NIMS Hospital and achieved 95 percent results. However, they have found that few who took the vaccine got fever and pain at the spot where the vaccine was given. Fever Hospital in Guntur has been selected for the third round of trials and everyday 50 persons would be administered the vaccine. People above the age of 18 years can register for the vaccine. The company would select 1,000 volunteers and analyse the results.
The development of antibodies in people who have taken the vaccine will be monitored. After taking the dose, they would have to come again for the second two doses after two months. If there are no side effects, the production of the COVAXIN would begin. The company representatives said that there are chances of starting the production of vaccine in Hyderabad within two months.
Many companies are busy bringing out the Corona vaccine in India. The Serum Institute in Pune is taking up trials with the help of world-famous Oxford and the trials are in the third phase. The company is trying to provide the vaccine at a very low price. The Bharat Biotech chairman Dr Krishna Ella has announced that the company would provide the vaccine at a cost less than a water bottle. If this happens, the vaccine would be ready for three crore people in February.
