When Twitter went berserk today over the announcement of Hero Prabhas’s 22nd film ‘Adi Purush’ to be directed by Om Raut, many seem to have missed some underlining aspects regarding the timing of the film.
The film to be produced by T-Series CMD Bhushan Kumar is slated to be a multi-lingual magnum opus 3D film with spectacular graphics and visuals. Big names are being roped in to become part of the cast and crew for this film. While the makers are gung-ho after the warm reception from the audience, many are amused over the timing of the announcement.
‘Adi Purush’ will go on floors in 2021 and would be completed by the end of 2022. With Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya scheduled to be completed in 3 years from now, the movie on its release will drive up the religious frenzy and make the majority population in the Country eagerly wait for the completion of the temple.
Many political analysts opine that the timing of temple opening was deliberately planned to coincide with the Indian general elections which is scheduled in 2024. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which operates on the right wing plank will receive a sure-shot boost to its campaign prospects. Narendra Modi will go into the elections claiming that they have kept their manifesto promise.
Thanks to SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali’, Prabhas has become a pan-India actor with heavy marketability. His physical appearance and gentle demeanor will lend a macho dimension to the role of Lord Ram which will be liked by one and all.
Going by the tagline “celebration of the victory of good over evil”, we can safely assume that ‘Adi Purush’ would highlight war sequences between Lord Ram and antagonist Ravana. Deliberate or otherwise, the timing of movie release will heat up the politics and might even influence the election outcome to a certain extent as liberals point out.
