Is there going to be a political war in Tamil Nadu in the near future? The question is whether Stalin who took over as the TN CM is ready to take on Modi-Amit Shah, who is in power at the Centre. There is a reason for this. The IPS officer who had arrested Amit Shah in the past has now been appointed as the state DGP by the Tamil Nadu government.
While Kunduswamy was the CBI IG
Kunduswamy, a member of the Tamil Nadu cadre, had previously worked for the CBI. Amit Shah was the Gujarat Home Minister when he was the Inspector General of CBI (IG). Meanwhile, the CBI was probing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case. Amit Shah was arrested in connection with the case along with P Kunduswamy and DID Amitabh Thakur of the Orissa CBI. The court later dismissed the charges against Amit Shah. However, the arrest of Amit Shani caused a stir across the country at the time. In 2007, Kunduswamy investigated a case of rape and murder of a British woman. Pinarayi Vijayan, the then Minister of Power and now the Chief Minister of Kerala has also been accused of being an investigator in a financial scandal against the power utility SNC-Lavalin.
As Tamil Nadu Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Chief, DGP
The Tamil Nadu government has recently appointed Kunduswamy as the Chief of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption and the DGP. Kunduswamy’s appointment comes in the wake of a campaign to launch an inquiry into the BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK.

Amma canteens will continue
Stalin, who took over as CM for the first time, received critical acclaim for announcing that he would continue the Amma canteens set up by the AIADMK government in the state in the past. At the same time the implementation of the schemes, which took place during the AIADMK-BJP alliance’s tenure in the freshly taken state, looks set to probe allegations of corruption. Kunduswamy also handed over key responsibilities to another officer in addition to the appointment. Imams Ali of Al Umma, accused in Coimbatore blasts, and Shakeel Akhtar, a 1989 batch IPS officer who dared to arrest his followers, have been appointed as Crime and CID chief. Shakeel Ahmed, who has investigated several key cases, has Z category security. She also received the Presidential Award in 2014. With the latest transfers, speculations have begun that the Stalin government will move aggressively.
BJP alert
In West Bengal, there have been allegations that attacks on BJP leaders have increased since Mamata Banerjee came to power. The Mamata Banerjee government is countering this. An official appointed by the Election Commission says the DGP is not involved. With this, the news is coming that the Centre is ready to provide special security to several leaders in West Bengal. At the same time, the BJP seems to be on the alert for developments in Tamil Nadu. There are reports in the media that some instructions have been issued to key leaders of their party.
