‘Me too’ campaign which gave a rude jolt to the casting couch infested film industry is now getting ugly with false claims all over. The campaign which brought genuine claims of victims to the limelight has now fallen into the hands of tricksters who just want to blackmail celebrities and make money. A recent claim by a woman from Miryalaguda saying that 139 members raped her for more than 5000 times over eight years including actor Krishnudu and anchor Pradeep is an example of such fake claims.
Police have registered cases on all the 139 members under various sections including Nirbhaya act. As this news became viral on social media, anchor Pradeep Machiraju and actor Krishnudu released videos to lay bare the false claim. At the outset, these claims appear to be far from truth and are definitely disconcerting the families of the accused.
What did Pradeep have to say?
Anchor Pradeep said, “I was deeply disturbed and my family experienced a major shock after these events have unfolded. I am going to file a defamation suit on the people who have deliberately included my name in this issue for their profit and I urge media to follow restraint before publishing any information.” Actor Krishnudu expressed his anguish by saying, “I am never involved in any mischief in my whole life and there are some malicious forces behind the woman’s complaint and I will take legal action on them.”
Are celebrities being targeted?
There is a talk that a section of people are targeting celebrities by being friendly with them in the beginning and cashing in on their weaknesses later. These people will approach the celebrities saying that they are fans and build relationships which they use for blackmail. Celebrities became cautious after industry incurred the wrath from people in Sri Reddy’s issue. The people whose mischief was recorded have been blackmailed. Many such incidents have come to light recently.
Coming to this case, we have to wait and see whether Pradeep and Krishnudu get a clean chit or not.
