…but keeps his party leaders and MLAs guessing by saying “Does anyone play politics by tomtoming to the world?”
“National Party? What is that? Some fellow writes (a story in media), and this fellow (MLA) is asking about it. Is floating a political party a joke?”
This was how Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao reacted when a curious TRS MLA asked him about the news doing rounds that he is all set to float a national party. The MLA was curious after watching a story on a news channel which said KCR was making moves to play a bigger role in the national politics and put a halt to BJP’s expansionist agenda. The report also claimed that KCR received assurances from Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and several other leaders from the opposition parties.
KCR schooled the MLA that there is no need to float a party when the elections are three years away and advised him to not fall for speculations driven by news outlets. However, he kept the conversation open-ended by saying “politics is not always played out in the open”. However, the pink party chief told his MLAs that such a proposal may be given a thought if the Centre takes a decision on conducting Jamili elections (One nation and one election).
Minister and MLAs asked to be on guard
TRS chief asked the ministers and party MLAs to be cautious during the ongoing monsoon session. He said that opposition parties might try to corner the government in the wake of its recent decision to scrap the Village Revenue Officers system in the State and failure to manage COVID. The MLAs were told not to unnecessarily interfere when the members of the opposition are allowed to speak. Those who are good with the subject at hand should only respond, instead of creating troubles to the government.
Monsoon session to continue till September 28
The monsoon session of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly will continue till September 28. State government’s measures to handle COVID, fire accidents in the Srisailam Hydel Power Project, welfare, agriculture were among the subjects likely to come up for discussion.
