BJP AP President Somu Veerraju said that the capital would be in Amaravati only and the BJP would fight with the government for providing patta to the farmers who gave their lands. Doubts are raised on the timing of the statement as the party remained silent even though the protests were taken up for the last 350 days and they were talking now keeping an eye on the elections.
Capital in Amaravati only
Somu Veerraju on Monday evening had a meeting with the farmers under the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh executive member Kumar Swamy. He told them that the BJP has decided to have the capital in Amaravati only. He also said that they would exert pressure on the government to provide patta to 29,000 farmers who gave their lands and develop the remaining 9,000 acres of land. If the YCP government does not do this they would develop the land, he assured.
We will stand by Capital farmers
He said that the Central government did what the earlier government had decided on the capital. The present government is also not taking steps after announcing that they would construct capital. Stating that the TDP and YSRCP both were family parties, he said that they focus only on their families and do not consider the development of the people. He said that the Centre has done what all it had to do on the development of the capital. Stating that the party has constructed headquarters in Vijayawada, he said that soon the permanent building will also be constructed. He also assured to provide justice to the Amaravati farmers.
