What is the situation of those having an ideology of honesty, human rights, moral values, constitution? What will be the situation if there was no High Court in Andhra Pradesh? The thought itself makes people shudder.
Yes, it’s true… It has to be said that YSRCP leaders and sympathizers are campaigning against courts in the state saying they were playing the role of opposition. It is natural for the courts to intervene when there is a violation of the Constitution and when human rights are being violated. There is no need to find reasons when courts find fault with an erring government.
Until now individuals had to behave as per the judgments of the court no matter at what level they were. They used to fear speaking against court rulings. But all these seem to have gone with the previous government. Everything is new in this government. Not one or two… but many issues like English medium, State Election Commissioner, Narsipatnam doctor Sudhakar, distribution of housing to the poor, three capitals issue etc., the government had to face obstructions for its aggression on every issue due to court intervention. Even opposition leaders are worried to speak against the ruling government, over the fear of cases being filed against them.
Making fun of court orders
Earlier, when the High Court directed that the secretariat cannot be set up at Thirumalayapally in the Vedurukkuppam zone, authorities began constructing Rythu Bharosa centre, saying that the Court had directed not to construct a Secretariat but not this. This infuriated the judges and led them to question the government for mocking court orders? The court even reminded the government that they have the right to take action Suo moto against defiant officers as per Article 215, adding that they were aware of all things happening. Not only this, there were several instances when the government acted in defiance of court rulings. When former Visakhapatnam mayor Sabbam Hari sought a stay from the high court against the demolition of encroachments, the authorities issued demolition notices.
Attack on opposition
Opposition parties usually try to prevent the government from acting against the constitution and against the will of the people. The leaders of the respective parties fight on behalf of the people. But this is not the case in Andhra. If anyone raises his voice against the government…then cases are filed. Opposition leaders have been living in a miserable situation for some time now. Victims and those who want to protect their rights are forced to go to court. With no other power in the state to stop government aggression, people are approaching courts for justice. Even though hundreds of cases have been filed against the government, there is no change in their attitude. Moreover, complaints were also lodged against sitting members of the judiciary for issuing unfavourable rulings. What would happen to ordinary, middle-class families if there was no justice system in the state?
