The TRS is all set to retain its sitting seat in the Nagarjunasagar by-election. All the leaders took to the field to win over their party candidate Nomula Bhagat. Meanwhile, senior leader and iconic leader Jana Reddy is known to be in the ring from the Congress party. Though the BJP is saying that it is trying to impose its dominance here this time, the situation here has changed to that of Jana Reddy Vs TRS. The campaign has also reached its final stage in the run-up to the April 17 elections. So far, the major parties have been busy with the campaign.
New tension for TRS
But new tension has also begun for the TRS. Road roller and chapati roller markers are allotted to independent candidates. If that had happened alone, TRS would not have had a big tension. But TRS candidate Nomula Bhagat’s name is number three in the first EVM. The tension started with the presence of the road roller mark and the chapati roller mark in the same EVM. Following the withdrawal and rejection of all nominations in this election, 41 candidates are in the fray. Three EVMs are required, with a maximum of 16 symbols per EVM. With the roller markers and the TRS car mark on the same EVM, there is a debate going on at the party. TRS, which had previously felt that it had suffered losses due to the truck, had written letters to the Election Commission and the truck was temporarily removed from the list of symbols in the Telangana elections at that time. However, the tension over the sign has eased. The road roller and chapati signs are also putting tension on the party. Like the damage in the past
The TRS was damaged by some signs in the last election. The TRS said that the reason for this was the car symbol similar to the TRS party symbol. In 2014, an auto symbol was allotted to an independent candidate for the Bhubaneswar Parliamentary seat. But a man largely unknown to the masses received nearly 35,000 votes at the time. Although TRS candidate Dr Boora Narsaya Gowda won here, TRS announced at the time that the majority was reduced to 35 thousand. TRS said that the car was damaged due to car-like markings in the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections. Nakirekal, Paleru, Huzurnagar, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Jukkal, etc., lost by a narrow majority, but the truck and roller coasters received more votes.
Within Bhuvanagiri Parliamentary limits
Even in the 2019 parliamentary elections, the truck mark in the Bhubaneswar Parliamentary constituency garnered over 27,973 votes. TRS candidate Dr Boora Narsaya Gowda got 5,27,576 votes while Congress candidate Komatireddy got 5,32,795 votes. Congress won by 5,219 votes. In the case of the Dubaka by-election, BJP candidate Raghunandan Rao won over TRS candidate Solipeta Sujatha by almost 1118 votes. Independent candidate Bandaru Nagraj, however, got the bread maker mark and got 3,750 votes. Thus, TRS says that voters are voting for those symbols as car symbol. TRS points out that in the constituencies where TRS lost, the votes for independent candidates were higher than the majority for other parties, including over 3,000 votes for road roller, chapati roller (roti maker), auto and truck mark candidates. TRS leaders say it would not have been so much of a problem if these were in colours, but the situation arose because the ballots were still in black and white.
