TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu mounted a vitriolic attack against the State government saying that the flood-affected people in Andhra Pradesh have been left in lurch because of its inefficiency and incompetence. Addressing the media, Naidu lashed at the government for being a mute spectator. “People are in distress due to lack of power, disrupted road connectivity and shortage of potable drinking water. They are facing hell-like circumstances and yet the government is ignoring them,” he said.
The former Chief Minister added, “The Central Water Commission provides flood-related to data to the State government on a real-time basis to take necessary steps, but the government is not bothered and is failing to take proactive measures due to its incompetence.”
He said that the farmers growing paddy, cotton, maize, banana and redgram crops are the worse hit due to the recent floods. He demanded that the Government immediately announce a compensation of Rs. 10,000 to those affected in the floods.
Recalling, how a similar crisis during cyclone Hudhud was addressed, he demanded the State government to announce a package similar to the one announced for the people affected by Hudhud. He suggested that the State government should also take immediate steps to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the post-flood situation.
Taking a dig at the Government’s COVID management, he questioned, “Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing more number of the Corona cases than anywhere in the country. Why did the state government fail to contain the growing number?”
Criticising the Government’s apathy, the TDP chief said, “The government factors in caste even in case of the corona pandemic.”
Naidu said that the healthcare professionals in AP were the most affected during the pandemic. “Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff had forewarned the government about the imminent spike and pleaded to take necessary steps. The government ignored them and failed to provide basic PPE kits and other necessary items. It shows that the government does not bother about the lives and health of the frontline warriors who are on the battleground,” he said.
Naidu launched a website www.apwithamaravati.com and asked people of all the 13 districts in the State to express their views on the issue of Amaravati.
