Padmabhushan and Bharat Ratna recipient Pranab Mukherjee passed away today evening at the Military Hospital in New Delhi where he was being treated for his ailments. He was 84 years old.
Mukherjee was being treated for a clot in his brain alongside COVID-19 infection. Called fondly as Pranad Da by his friends and acquaintances, Mukherjee is survived by two sons and a daughter. He started his political journey as an MLC in West Bengal and became the President of India in his long political career.
Pranab Mukherjee was the first president who became responsible for bridging the gap between Raj Bhavan and people. He took the historical decision to abolish the usage of ‘His Excellency’ word. Prime Minister Modi, President Ramnath Kovind and both the Chief Ministers of Telugu States KCR and Jagan paid their condolences.
