Team India’s tour to Australia hasn’t been an easy one, with several issues plaguing the team like injuries, quarantine etc. Adding to the woes, even rain led to the disruption of the matches. Except for a single Test match, in every other game, India had played it faced hindrances. No matter what, India has been fighting hard to win and despite the absence of key players, the reserved bench has proved themselves by coming to the rescue of the team whenever required. In other words, it isn’t just a fight but an iron will to win.
Good start for Aussies
It was a good start for the Aussies in the third session. Having resumed an overnight score of 21/0, on Day 4, David Warner (48) and Marcus Harris (38) added 89 runs for the first wicket, before being broken by Shardul Thakur in the 25th Over. With the Indian bowlers’ relentless attack, the Aussie batsmen thereafter had to retreat to the pavilion. When Steve Smith (55) and Labuschagne (25) tried to mend the innings, Mohammed Siraj scalped the wickets of Labuschagne and Wade in a single over to put back the pressure on the hosts. This led the Australians to defend themselves.
328 to win
In the second innings, Australia was all out for 294, and as a result India now needs to score 328 to win the final Test with just a day’s game left. On the Day 4, the Indian bowlers were at their best with Mohammed Siraj picking up 5 wickets to register his career-best figures while Shardul Thakur scalped four wickets and Washington Sundar took one. With rain playing spoilsport, the day was called off forcing early stumps. Currently, Rohit Sharma (4) and Shubman Gill (0) are at the crease. With just a day’s game left, there is excitement over who would win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
