JD Lakshminarayana, an Ex-JD of the CBI, is a well-known personality who had investigated several high-profile cases such as – OMC Scandal, Emaar Properties, YS Jagan Disproportionate Assets Cases and Satyam Scandal. Having left IPS, the 55-yr old from Kadapa took a political plunge having joined Pawan Kalyan’s JanaSena Party and unsuccessfully contested from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency, and later resigned from the party due to various reasons on 30 January 2020. Post-election defeat, Lakshminarayana had toured several areas in a bid to help solve people’s issues.
However, he re-appeared after a long gap on Tuesday and surprised the public at Maddilapalem Junction in Vizag on the occasion of nationwide strike for farmers pan India against the contentious farm laws, amidst a sea of Congress party workers. This led to speculations among the public as to when Lakshminarayana had joined the Grand Old Party. It is learnt that the Congress supporters having spotted the Ex-IPS officer passing through the area in his car, had requested him to join the protest for a short amount of time.
Immense appreciation among Vizag voters
Though Laxminarayana doesn’t hail from Vizag, voters of the city extended their complete support to the Ex-IPS officer. He had a massive following due to his honesty and for his sincere investigation into cases which include YS Jagan’s disproportionate assets case while serving as the Joint Director of the CBI. Even people of Vizag were content with the fact that they have an honest police officer as their political leader, but YSRCP’s MVV Satyanarayana emerged the winner from the constituency.
