AP DGP Gautam Sawang has reacted on the issue of temple attacks and vandalism in the state. Speaking at the AP Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri, the top police official said that deliberate posts are being uploaded on social media to create false campaigns and that legal action would be initiated against those who upload such posts. The DGP also warned those who alleged police of trying to give religious colour and added that it isn’t a good practice. Though several comments and videos speculating the issue were made, only the truth must be presented to the public by the media, the DGP added, requesting that false campaign against police should not be made.
Attacks have decreased
DGP Gautam Sawang informed that attacks on temples in 2020 were far less when compared to the previous years, adding that 38 idols were stolen, 2 chariots torched and excavations were held in four temples. He also said that bad language is being used against police personnel and that he never experienced something like this in the past. The DGP also said that police work irrespective of caste, religion, place and language barriers.
