COVID-19 has changed the dynamics of life to a great extent and film industry is no exception to this new phenomenon. The new normal post COVID-19 has revolutionized the exhibition mechanism as OTT platforms encountered a steady growth when it comes to engagement of audiences. In this scenario, there is no space for faults when it comes to script selection for top stars as one mistake can leave them behind in the race to the top.
After the success of Maharshi, everyone thought Mahesh Babu would take up Sukumar’s project, but it didn’t materialize due to creative differences. Mahesh went on to act in Anil Ravipudi’s ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ and locked horns with Bunny’s ‘Ala Vaikuntapuram lo’. Even though SLN fared well at the box-office, it was no-match for AVL and Mahesh is not happy about this.
Now the same Sukumar’s script which was rejected by Mahesh Babu was lapped up by Bunny who gave his nod for the project which was named ‘Pushpa’. As per industry sources, Mahesh rejected ‘Pushpa’ due to its rustic story and realistic portrayal of red sandal smuggling. He thought that these aspects would hamper his sophisticated image, and in turn, the film’s prospects. With news about the way the scenes are shaping up reaching Mahesh Babu, it seems he is regretting about not doing the project. Some people from close quarters are saying that Mahesh Babu’s distress is showing in the form of mood swings during the story development of Parasuram’s ‘Sarkaru Vari Pata’.
