Indian Prime Minister Modi got unprecedented popularity on Twitter. Two days ago, Twitter had blocked the personal account of American President Trump, which catapulted Pm Modi to the numero uno position.
It is known that Trump supporters attacked the American Capitol, following which Twitter blocked the ID of Trump for his tweets in support of the attack. He had earlier also made some controversial tweets. The Company blocked all personal and official accounts as well.
US President Trump was the most followed politician on Twitter around the world, followed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Donald Trump has 88.7 million followers, while Prime Minister Modi has 64.7 million followers. However, two days ago, the Company blocked Trump’s Twitter account. In the category of active politicians, Indian Prime Minister Modi holds the record of world number one in Twitter followers.
But if you look at the overall followers Modi is in 12th place. Former US President Barack Obama has the highest number of Twitter followers in the world. He has a maximum of 127 million followers. People of any wing at this level also have no such followers.
Among those who have more followers than Modi are Barack Obama, Justin Bieber (pop singer), Katy Perry (American singer), Rihanna (American pop singer), Cristiano Ronaldo (football player), Taylor Swift (singer), Lady Gaga (Angelina Germanotta-Singer), Ariana Grande (singer, actress, writer), Ellen (comedian, talk show host), YouTube (social media platform-Google), Kim Kardashian (media, socialist, businessman). Modi is in 12th position.
Joe Biden, who will soon take over the presidency, has 23.3 million followers, our Union Home Minister Amit Shah has 24.2 million and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 21.2 million followers. Modi joined Twitter in 2009 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. By 2010 the milestone of one lakh followers had been crossed. Next year there will be four million followers. As of 2014, it was 12 million and recently it has reached 64 million.
