Tollywood viewers are slowly moving away from run-of-the-mill potboilers, which are confirmed by recent trends. The success of movies like ‘Appatlo Okedundevadu’ and ‘Sai Srinivas Athreya’ shows their changed preference towards realistic cinema rather than regular mass movies. ‘Natural Star’ Nani is one such actor who can be counted as one of the pioneers to introduce the trend of realistic cinema to Tollywood. His talent in choosing unique, fresh scripts is top notch. He has perhaps given most chances to new directors than any other star in Tollywood.
Nani is currently working in ‘Tuck Jagadish’ under the direction of Shiva Nirvana. Shiva has directed Nani’s ‘Ninnu Kori’ earlier. He also directed the blockbuster ‘Majili’ with Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. ‘Shyam Singha Roy,’ another upcoming film of Nani is also being directed by a young director Rahul Sankrityan who earlier directed Vijay Devarakonda’s ‘Taxiwala’. Nani is also said to have given his nod to another director Vivek Athreya who directed ‘Mental Madhilo’ and ‘Brochevarevarura’. Formal announcement about this movie is going to come soon.
Apart from all these films, Nani has reportedly said yes to the storyline narrated by ‘Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya’ fame Swaroop RSJ. Swaroop is currently busy with his second film based on the story of a bounty hunter. Nani seems to be in the mood to gift good movies that are far from mundane to Telugu viewers.
