The platform ticket price, which was earlier Rs 10, has been increased to Rs 50 from midnight on March 1. With the immediate effect of these increased prices, people are venting their ire towards railway authorities. But the issue is that these platform prices are hiked not only across the country but also in Mumbai, the commercial capital! The sensational decision was taken by the railway authorities as the corona cases in Maharashtra are on the rise again.
Do you know the reason?
Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shivaji Sutar said the tough decision was taken to control the large number of people coming to the railway stations. The prices will be effective from March 1 to June 15. Railway officials hope that the huge increase in platform ticket prices will reduce congestion at railway stations.
