Indian National Congress which has a rich legacy of more than 150 years is again going into the ‘splitting-up’ mode. Even though divisions in the party are not new, this time it is due to the letter written by the seniors in the party over leadership issues which was followed by Rahul’s angry outburst.
The seniors who were flabbergasted by Rahul’s remarks of writing a letter by ‘joining hands with BJP’ decided to resign from the party. “If you can prove that I got associated with BJP and had written this letter, I will resign from the party permanently”, senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said. Kapil Sibal tweeted that he never uttered a word supporting BJP in all his thirty years of political career and further added that they supported the party in the hardships that occurred in Rajasthan and Manipur. He stressed that he is deeply hurt by the false accusation of associating with BJP by none other than Rahul himself.
In reply to Sibal’s tweet, Randeep Surjewala said, “Rahul never uttered those words and this is all some sort of misunderstanding”. Kapil Sibal removed his tweet after this clarification by Randeep.
