Superstar Rajinikanth and Tamil director KS Ravikumar share a special bond with each other. It started with ‘Muthu’ and lasted till ‘Linga’. ‘Linga’ resulted in huge losses for its makers and became the reason for the distance between the actor and director. After ‘Robo’ in 2010, Rajinikanth suffered with health ailments and hasn’t acted in films for two years. He played a guest role in Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Ra One’ and lent his voice to the animation movie ‘Kochadayyan’ directed by his daughter Soundarya.
KS Ravikumar had earlier planned to make a film titled ‘Rana’ with Rajinikanth. Based on folklore, the movie was to be made after Robo, but was shelved due to Rajini’s ill health back then. Deepika Padukone was casted to play the leading lady in it and the team even released the first look poster. After Rajinikanth’s health became better, Ravikumar completed ‘Linga’ which eventually became a flop. After ‘Linga,’ Rajini went on to star in ‘Kabali’, ‘Kaala’, ‘Petta’ and ‘Darbar’. He is now busy with Siva’s ‘Annaatthe’.
Sources say that KS Ravikumar met Rajinikanth recently and discussed about ‘Rana’. He has reportedly convinced Rajinikanth to revive the project. The duo discussed about the budget and decided to make it on a Pan-Indian scale to increase collections. Let’s see how this prestigious project shapes up for Rajinikanth.
