Former MLA YSR Congress leader Dronamraju Srinivas passed away at 3:30pm on Sunday due to Covid-19. Son of veteran Congressman Dronamraju Satyanarayana, he is survived by his wife, son and daughter. The 59-year old leader who earlier served in the Congress was elected twice to the state assembly from Visakhapatnam South and had joined the YSRCP just prior to the 2019 general elections.
CM YS Jagan conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. Srinivas who was recovering from Coronavirus following treatment at a corporate hospital succumbed to the infection. The YSRCP leader who had lost the polls in 2019, was appointed the VMRDA Chairman by AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
Srinivas who was born in 1961, made his political debut with NSUI while studying at L Bullaya College in 1980-81. He later served as the Youth Congress district secretary in 1987, Congress district Vice-President from 1997-2000 and DCC President from 2001 to 2006.
His mortal remains will be kept at his residence at Peda Waltair for public display and the final rites will be held today.
