The Visakhapatnam Steel Conservation Combat Committee led a walkathon from the statue of late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao to the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy statue located close to the VUDA Park on the beach road on Sunday. Afterwards, the convener of the Visakhapatnam Steel Conservation Struggle Committee J Ayodhya Ram presided over the meeting. On this occasion, a flag with the slogan ‘Visakha Steel is the right of Andhras’ was unveiled. On this occasion, GVMC Deputy Mayor Giani Sridhar said that a meeting would be held on the 9th of this month, and a unanimous resolution on “Visakha steel protection” will be sent to the government. While National INTUC General Secretary Sanjay Singh said that PM Modi was selling public sector firms across the country and called on the working class and people to unite against it.
Leading analyst Telakapalli Ravi said that in order to save Visakhapatnam steel, mainly political parties should leave their politics and support the movement with a single agenda and have a single voice in Delhi. He warned that the government will have to pay a heavy price if it does not change its policies. On the other hand, the 78th Ward Corporator B Gangaram said that the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is the flagship of the city of Visakhapatnam. He called for being prepared to defend it. Aam Aadmi Party Visakha in-charge Seethal said that they were sending the Visakha steel movement to their leadership every day so that the matter could be raised in Parliament. She also said that they will be participating in the movement in the near future.
Gaddam Ramu, who is taking out a cycle rally, said that he wanted to take the movement from village to village.
