Not just the state of Andhra Pradesh, the whole nation is discussing regarding the Madanapalle family wherein two girls were killed by their own parents over occult. According to reports, the daughters believed that there is an evil entity in their residence, while the parents believe there is a divine presence. Mother claims that she is Shiva and that Corona was spread from her to weed out the evils prevalent in society. On the other hand, the father claims that their daughters would return to life. These weird claims made by the family has turned sensational and has become a topic of discussion nationwide. Right from the start, the family were known to be highly religious and it is said that they had been practising occult for some time.
According to police, the mother Padmaja (50) has been accused of killing her daughters Alekhya (27) and Divya Sai (22) with their mouths stuffed. The elder daughter’s head was bludgeoned with a dumbbell, while the younger was stabbed multiple times using a lance. The incident left police and localites in shock.
Speculations are that the Facebook and Instagram handle of the elder daughter Alekhya were filled with provocative social media posts full of religious hatred. If we delve into more details, the social media posts indicate clearly the ardent political inclination the elder daughter had towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An image shows Alekhya standing beside a shop which reads NaMo and it has been captioned ‘Love of NaMo’. This shows that the family weren’t just highly religious but also ardent followers of NaMo.
Hinduism to an extent is considered a religion. But there are some who consider the term Hindu above religion. But Narendra Modi managed to utilize Hindutva as a trump card for vote bank politics. The use of the term itself was strategized in such a manner that they can garner votes. This also worked in a positive way with the PM serving two consecutive terms. Later, some decisions which were taken by the Centre, and amendments made to laws led to an insecurity among the Muslim community. However, at the same time, the ruling parties have been alleged of inciting certain sections of the public using the Hindu tagline.
In this context, the Instagram handle of Alekhya has a post hashtagged #shivaspeaks which mentions – “Islam is dead. Muslims are gone. Mohammed is in Halahal.” This is the last post which is seen in Alekhya’s Insta account. It was uploaded two days prior to the murder of the girl. Now, it is unbelievable that such fanatical thoughts and opinions are formed in a 27-yr old girl, who is highly educated and pursuing her MBA in Bhopal.
The root of origin behind this fanaticism needs to be identified. Does this arise due to extreme love for one’s religion? In this context do superstitions aggravate a person’s mental condition? Well, it is high time for each one of us to do a self-examination of our thoughts.
