India’s top mixed double pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa have bettered their rankings. They have entered the world’s top 20 in the BWF rankings. The pair who had stormed into the semis of the Toyota Thailand Open Super 1000 tourney had jumped 16 places to reach their career-best ranking.
Similar, the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in men’s doubles semis scripted history in the same tournament having ranked 10. While in women’s singles PV Sindhu holds 7th rank, Saina has moved from 20th to the 19th rank. In Men’s singles, Srikanth 13, Sai Praneeth 17, Kashyap 26 and Sameer Varma is in 27th rank.
Also, the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers for the Swiss Open Super 300 tourney begins from March 2nd to 7th. Later, post the Indian Open which is held in May, the World Badminton Federation would release the rankings based on which the players would be eligible to take part in the Tokyo Olympics.
