Former Minister and senior TDP leader Achannaidu heaved a sigh of relief after he was sanctioned a conditional bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday.
The TDP leader was arrested on June 12 at Nimmada, Srikakulam by the sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau on the charges of his involvement in the ESI procurements scandal. He has been under the judicial remand since his arrest. Considering his health conditions, the High Court granted bail and directed him to not travel outside of India.
The TDP leader was reportedly suffering from a piles complaint and had to undergo treatment after his arrest at Ramesh Hospitals in Vijayawada. He also tested positive for COVID leading to an uproar in AP politics with the Opposition TDP coming out strongly in support of their leader. He was later admitted to NRI Hospital in Mangalagiri. Earlier, the court had found fault with the ACB for arresting him immediately after he had undergone surgery and bringing him all the way from Nimmada to Guntur.
