The decisions being taken by the AP government has turned worrisome. Gone are the days, when government employees were credited with salaries on the first of every month. Crores of rupees are being spent on welfare schemes when salaries are being paid to employees in instalments till the 14th of every month. It looks like CM YS Jagan has forgotten that the word ‘development’ exists in the dictionary. Looks like the government is moving ahead with its agenda of crediting the bank accounts of beneficiaries who have opted for the Navarathnalu welfare schemes.
The AP government is spending crores towards publicizing its nine welfare schemes via TV commercials, magazines, newspapers and printing of brochures/pamphlets. Taking it to a whole new level, the state government has now spent ₹25,00,00,000 towards printing brochures for ‘Gundelaninda Janam Agenda and Tholi Yedu- Jagananna Thodu.’
Insanity at its peaks?
The YS Jagan government took a debt of ₹60,000 crores for the implementation of Navarathnalu welfare schemes in 2019. However, this year the state government created a record of sorts having taken a loan of ₹70,000 crores in just eight months. While the state government blamed the Coronavirus crisis for revenue deficit. But in reality, there have been no attempts made by the AP CM to bring in investments to the state and it seems like they are doing research on how to make loans. Already, a debt burden of ₹2.5 lakh each has been imposed on every person in the state. Looks like, the government does not hesitate in taking a loan of ₹10 lakh crores too, because banks loan the amount to the government. Now, irrespective of the leadership, the loan needs to be paid with interest by the government in power. At present ₹30,000 crores, a year is being paid only towards interest accrued on loans made by AP. The fact that new debts have to be made to pay off the interest on a monthly basis, indicates the bad financial situation of the state.
Till date ₹366 crores have been spent!
Numerical data shows that the AP Govt had spent ₹366 crores in one and a half years towards welfare scheme campaign. While the Opposition has sought a reply from the government for having allocated a whopping ₹210 crores only to Sakshi TV and newspaper. However, with no other option left, except Sakshi, the advertisements are being given to another major media house. Now recently, ₹25 crores are being spent only for printing brochures. This had led to speculations that a YSRCP leader owns a printing machine. In this scenario, opposition leaders have opined that wasting crores of public money only for YSRCP campaign is nothing but heights of insanity.
