Dr.Rajasekhar, who enticed Telugu audiences as the ‘Angry Youngman’ of the 90s has carved a niche for himself having played intense cop roles. He made his Tollywood debut starring in T Krishna’s 1985 directorial ‘Vande Mataram’ and earned critical acclaim for essaying the role of a strict Police Officer in ‘Ankusam’ which is hailed as one of the classics by the Telugu Film Industry. He is considered amongst the top brass of actors, often compared with the likes of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna. He has frequently associated with director Raviraja Pinisetty who gave him blockbusters.
Rajasekhar studied MBBS and had practiced in Chennai for some time prior to his advent into films. He married his co-star Jeevitha in 1991. However, the 58-year-old ran into financial troubles due to his failures and had to sell his house to clear the debts.
It was the film ‘Garuda Vega’ that got him back to form and he is now busy with new projects. His wife Jeevitha is producing his upcoming film in which he plays the role of an investigative officer. The project is being helmed by ‘Neelakanta’, an acclaimed director who made his debut with Manjula Ghattamaneni’s ‘Show’ and went on to win four Nandi awards for ‘Missamma’ and two for ‘Virodhi’. On the other hand, Richa Panai plays the female lead in the film which is slated to go on floors from October 7th.
