TDP Chief Chandrababu lashed out at the state government for its failure in providing lack of security not only for the people but also for the temples. Attacks on the idols of gods in the state were a testament to the incompetence of the rulers. He was outraged over the vandalism of the statue of Kodandaram on Ramatheertham hill in Vizianagaram district. He even demanded strict action against the accused who were responsible for the outrageous act at the holy site. He said the destruction of idols in the Ramatheertham shrine which had a historical significance dating back to four centuries was a testament to the YSRCP government’s negligence. It was unfortunate to see a series of attacks and vandalism on temples across the state after the YSRCP came to power. Sadly, AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has remained mum on the issue. More than 120 temples were attacked and destroyed in a span of 19 months. He said attacks on temples and destruction of idols were taking place in the state in a planned manner.
Chandrababu Naidu went all guns blazing at the government for the destructions of 23 idols in around six temples in Pithapuram, demolition of Durgamma temple in Guntur, Simhadri Appanna temple, Tirumala Tirupati temple (TTD), Srisailam and Vijayawada Kanaka Durgamma temple. He added that apart from the lapses in administration, the government has attempted to create differences among religions and castes. He said that if strict measures had been taken when the chariots were set on fire in the Bitragunta and Antarvedi temples these issues would not have propped up. Chandrababu demanded that strict action be taken against those who committed the atrocities on Ramatheertham Hill.
