The NDA is all set to continue rule in the state with Bihar CM Nitish led JD(U)-BJP alliance leading in the race ahead of Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD led Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) consisting of the Congress and the Left. Of the total 243 seats, the majority mark of 122 is needed. Currently, the trends are as follows – NDA 129 seats, Grand Alliance 103 seats, the Chirag Paswan led LJP 2 seats and Others 9 seats.
Since the counting of votes for the Bihar assembly elections began at 8 AM, initial rounds showed RJD in the lead, however now it looks like the incumbent CM will retain power consecutively for the fourth term. On the other hand, the JD(U) party cadre has begun their celebrations by bursting firecrackers. This time the counting being held across 55 centres is expected to take time, as polling booths were increased by 63% due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Around 4.10 crore votes were cast this time, 92 lakh votes counted so far. Earlier there used to be 25-26 rounds of counting, this time it went up to around 35 rounds. So, the counting will continue till late evening,” HR Srinivas, the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar said. Hence, it can be expected that the Bihar Election Result 2020 will be out only by late-night.
