All political parties in Telangana are now concentrating on the Dubbaka byelection and are striving hard for victory. The three main parties, the TRS, the BJP and the Congress, are fighting fiercely. TRS has taken the victory as a prestige issue here. Minister Harish Rao’s campaign against the BJP and the Congress is attracting the attention of the people. He is throwing challenges in the campaign and trying to put opposition parties on the defensive, by mainly targeting the BJP.
Counterattack by BJP
The BJP leaders are strongly countering the campaign of Harish Rao. The TRS leader says that Dubbaka development was possible only by their party, to this the BJP leaders questioned why there was no development like Gajwel and Siddipet. While Harish Rao is alleging that the central government will install electric meters for motors, BJP leaders are countering this by stating that all the bills will be at the discretion of the state government. The debate over the issue of pensions too has generated some heat.
When Harish Rao asked the BJP leaders to come to the Dubbaka bus stand for debate, the Saffron party leaders criticized saying the development by TRS was visible at the bus stop. Harish even alleged that the parties like BJP and Congress only seek votes, but only he will stay for the development of Dubbaka. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. BJP leaders have strongly countered the TRS party stating that they appease the people of the constituency only during the elections and they don’t care whatever happens in the constituency after elections.
Situation unclear
It is unclear whether Harish Rao’s criticisms to ensure the victory of TRS will strengthen the party or put it in trouble. Harish is taking efforts to ensure not only the victory of the party but also to prevent the BJP from getting the votes it had achieved in the previous election. However, the BJP leaders are of the view that they will definitely win this time.
The main competition in this election seems to be between the TRS and the BJP as the BJP leaders are countering the propaganda of the TRS leaders and the statements made by Harish in a way that has never been seen before. It is a matter of a few days and it will be clear whom the Dubbaka voters choose.
