Jayaprakash Reddy is known for his distinct villainy and comedy timing in Tollywood. He is called as ‘JP’ in the industry. He belongs to the category of Rao Gopala Rao and Kota Srinivasa Rao who are known for their fierce villainy with an underlying comedy tone. JP’s dialogue modulation style is so unique that his speech consists of a deliberate stretch that accentuates his comedy prowess a lot. His experience as a government teacher in various parts of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh made him a master of multiple accents that helped him to achieve glory in his film career.
Jayaprakash Reddy was born in Kurnool district of Rayalaseema. Though he spoke plain accent in various films, he is well known for uttering dialogues in Rayalaseema, Nellore and Telangana slangs. He tried multiple modulations in those slangs to mix villainy and comedy to form an entertaining mix.
“Eedi sigataraga…Pelli cheyalsina vayasulo ippudu neeku pellendi raa…?”
“Aado sweetu peru…nuvvo frootu peru pettukuni andari perlu vaadukuntara?”
“Ori mee bhaagotalu deyyalu peeka…mundaallanu chupinchandra…”
“Yera mee kosam maa janaalu etukutaa unte…meere edurochi parichayam chesukuntunnare…malla yem junki ready chesukocha?”
“Mimmalni pattaneeki…mee pelli cassette…naa pelli cassette kante kudaka yekkuva turlu chusina…chepta mee pani chepta”
“Oriorioriori….yendirayya tea teppinchamanta?”
“Vachav….Aa Aa eetikem takkuva ledu…eedinta jaragataa vinte…intlo kurchuni..Oo…laathi vuputa kurchunna?”
These dialogues serve as examples for his command over accents. Directors such as Srinu Vaitla, Trivikram and Anil Ravipudi used JP’s comedy timing and dialogue delivery to great comic effect in their movies. Director Late EVV Satyanaayana also penned numerous comic roles for him and even made JP act in a double role once. His absence cannot be filled by any other actor so soon. May his soul rest in peace.
