YSRCP president and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked his MPs not to be combative towards the Centre during the monsoon session of the parliament, but instructed them to ‘gently’ raise every issue pertaining to Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a virtual meeting with the YSRCP MPs and instructed them on this strategy for the monsoon session of the parliament.Giving details of the meeting, YSRCP Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha, PV Midhun Reddy said, “We will mount pressure on the Centre demanding the State’s dues, but will not put up a combative posture with it.”
Jagan asked the party MPs to raise the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh and try to get an assurance from the Centre.The YSRCP MPs will also highlight the way Jagan’s government has fast-tracked the implementation of the Polavaram Project works. They will also demand the release of funds for paying compensation to the displaced population of the Project. Reimbursement of expenditure incurred on the Polavaram project will also be sought by approaching the Union Minister for the release of funds. The YSRCP will also raise the issue of release of pending GST to states. The MPs will also work towards extracting assurance for funds to Andhra Pradesh under the Centre’s Garib Kalyan Yojana. Centre’s support will also be elicited for the State government’s proposal to establish a medical college in every parliament constituency in AP and setting up a Girijan University in Saluru of Vizianagaram district.
To demand clearance for dissolution of the Council.
The YSRCP MPs will also raise the issue of clearance to Disha Act and the dissolution of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council- the two bills, which were earlier passed by the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and sent for the clearance to the Centre.
“Opposition running false campaign,”says Midhun
Midhun Reddy criticised the opposition parties in AP for leading a false campaign against the YSRCP. He alleged that the opposition parties are trying to stoke communal disturbances for political gains- taking advantage of an unfortunate incident that happened at Antharvedi. However, “they will not succeed in their designs,” “he added.
He said that the State government ordered a CBI inquiry into the incident and demanded stringent action against those responsible for the incident.
