CM YS Jagan on Monday inaugurated the second year of Amma Vodi scheme in Nellore and announced that the beneficiaries of classes 9th and 10th could choose a laptop instead of the Rs 15,000 which is issued for the next academic year. He added that students of ‘Vasati Deevena’ are eligible for availing the option. Jagan said that many students had suffered during the lockdown as their parents couldn’t afford to provide them laptops and hence decided to provide them digital devices, such that they can continue their studies without any interruption and the scheme Amma Vodi is a revolutionary system in the field of education.
Around 42,00,000 beneficiaries are availing the services of Amma Vodi scheme and in the next academic year, this is set to increase to 44,48,000 beneficiaries. Apart, from this, the state government also ensured that the focus would be laid on the quality of mid-day meals and the health of students. Also, those beneficiaries who would be getting laptops will be given a three-year warranty and that internet access would be extended to the remote corners of the state and in every village.
